The real estate professionals at Keller Williams The Trembley Group are typical of many Americans. They love their pets. Their pets are part of their family. And The Market Common is just about the perfect place to live and work with a furry friend! Not only are The Market Common’s tree-lined avenues a beautiful and relaxing place to walk a pet, but some of the local restaurants offer outdoor, pet-friendly seating.

For dog-lovers looking for more ambitious exercise than The Market Common’s manicured village streets have to offer, The Market Common is also home to Barc Park South at Mallard Lake Drive and Cactus Street, near Grand Park. The park is the Grand Strand’s first off-leash dog park where owners and their pets can run and play.  The park is fully fenced and offers separate areas for large and small dogs.

The Barc Parc South is one of the dog park favorites of both locals and tourists. The 14-acre fenced dog park features a large lake that dogs love. Anyone living near the south end of Myrtle Beach between highway 501 and highway 544, Barc Parc South is probably the closest dog park. And its proximity to The Market Common adds a level of convenience. One family member can go shopping for a new Myrtle Beach home at Keller Williams The Trembley Group while the other watches the family pet at the park.

The entrance to Barc Parc South is a little challenging to locate. It can be found either through The Market Common area off Mallard Lake Drive. Or the easiest way, from behind the Glenmark Center (behind the Food Lion Grocery Store) off Kings Highway about a half-mile from The Market Common entrance and near the entrance to Myrtle Beach State Park.

While it may be a little hard to find, Donny definitely thinks it’s worth the effort. “I’m not too  much of a sociable person,” says Donny, a Connecticut transplant and a regular at Barc Parc South with Gypsy, his Shepherd Greyhound Mix. “But there is something that immediately breaks the ice between dog owners. I’ve become fast friends with a couple of people I’ve met here. We meet regularly with our dogs and then eat a picnic lunch or head for lunch at one of The Market Common dog-friendly restaurants. It’s been a great way to make a few friends. The Barc Parc is a wonderful facility. Gypsy has made a few fast friends, too. I think he looks forward to his dog-friends as much as I look forward to seeing my people-friends. ”

There is plenty of parking and lots of trees for shade. There are picnic tables available, as well as benches and fun games for your dog. The large lake has a walking path, and dogs may swim and retrieve. When Donny first used the facility, he was worried about the lake. “It’s a typical South Carolina pond. As his breed name might indicate, Gypsy loves the water. I’ll walk along the shore and Gypsy will swim alongside me. There’s no place in Myrtle Beach he’d rather be and nothing he’d rather do than retrieve a tennis ball,” says Donny. “There are freshwater dog watering spots, but Gypsy would rather drink the lake water. We’ve never had a problem.”

Barc Parc South has three sections – one for large dogs, one for small dogs, and one for all dogs that includes the lake. The park features a double gate with an introduction area.

The park is open from sunrise until sunset but closes for four hours of weekly routine maintenance every Monday from 7 AM to 11 AM.
