The holiday season in the Myrtle Beach area is filled with family-friendly events. It’s a great time to take the family to enjoy visits with Santa and his reindeer, to see the holiday decorations, listen to joyous music and to enjoy special activities like holiday markets. From Christmas parades to New Year’s Eve fireworks, here are a few things The Trembley Group Real Estate find special about Christmas in Myrtle Beach and along the Grand Strand.
Christmas Parades Along the Grand Strand
The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade on TV doesn’t hold a candle to the Christmas parades in Myrtle Beach. Cities and towns up and down the Grand Strand are planning their own Christmas parades, and it’s a great way to get out into the community and get into the holiday spirit. Many families build their own floats to compete in best decorated float contests, and it’s always a treat to see the fruits of their labor.
December 2, 5:30 PM
The North Myrtle Beach Annual Christmas Parade has been a source of delight and holiday cheer for many years. The tradition continues this year as Main Street in North Myrtle Beach will fill with holiday music, colorful floats, marching bands, and beauty queens. The parade begins at 5:30 PM and runs the length of Main Street to Ocean Boulevard. Any location along Main Street is a great spot to view the parade. December 3, 3 PM, tree lighting afterward at Morse Park Landing
The parade starts at Highway 17 Business at Sunnyside Avenue. The line-up will occur in the large vacant lot adjacent to Prosser’s BBQ. The parade will head south to Wachesaw Road along Hwy 17 Business. The parade will turn west on Wachesaw Road and will disband there. After the parade head down to the Murrells Inlet Marsh Walk for some of the Grand Strand’s finest dining with a spectacular waterfront view.
December 9, 2-5 PM
Don’t miss this year’s Town of Surfside Beach’s Christmas Parade. The parade has over 100 entries of all kinds, including floats and marching bands. The route starts on Ocean Boulevard at Melody Lane and travels north to Surfside Drive and on to Poplar Drive. Bring the entire family along to cheer on your favorite floats. The reviewing stand will be held in front of the library.
December 11, 10 AM – Noon
The Conway Christmas Parade is an entertainment event designed to appeal to families and to bring the community and region together. This year will be the Parade’s 59th anniversary. The parade’s goal is to bring cheer to every spectator, participant and organizer; and provide families and individuals an event that will build lasting holiday memories. This year’s parade starts at 16th Avenue and Main Street, and runs down Main Street to Third Avenue and Laurel Street, to Fourth Avenue, down Fourth Avenue to Wright Boulevard.
Brookgreen Garden’s Nights of a Thousand Candles
December 1-2, 7-9, & 14-17, 3 – 10 PM
For many, the highlight of the holiday season is Brookgreen Garden’s Night of a Thousand Candles. Brookgreen ushers in December with a dazzling display of lights and beauty. The garden comes aglow with more than 5,500 hand-lit candles and countless lights for Nights of a Thousand Candles. The garden’s ancient oaks, serene ponds, and beautiful sculpture are illuminated and guaranteed to put viewers in the holiday spirit. Enjoy a cup of cider and marvel at the beauty.
Night of a Thousand Candles is full of entertainment beyond the beauty of the grounds, and dinner is available. The menu, catered by Inlet Affairs, features a variety of Lowcountry fare including seafood, BBQ, chicken bog and vegetarian options.
Walk the paths with a warm cup of cider, hear the sound of holiday music, and celebrate the season with family and friends.
The 85-foot-tall fir tree decorated over 100,000 lights will be lighted in ceremonial fashion at 5:45 p.m. every night.
Advanced tickets are required and attendees are encouraged to carpool with family and friends. The best time to take photographs is at dusk so folks are encouraged to arrive early (between 4:00 p.m. – 5 p.m.). Arriving early also allows attendees to see the candles being lit and map out where they’d like to go.

Ring In the New Year With Fireworks
Many towns along the Grand Strand will be celebrating the end of 2016 and hosting annual New Year’s Eve events and fireworks as 2017 rolls in.
Market Common – Southern Times Square, December 31, festivities start at 7 PM (admission is free)
No reservations required but if planning to eat at one of the fine Market Common dining establishments, it is recommended to call ahead for reservations. Appointments with a Trembley Group Real Estate Sales Executive are also recommended for seeing any of the classic homes that are part of the unique Market Common community, just not on New Year’s Eve.
Entertainment: Two stages with live music, beer garden, a live feed from New York City’s Times Square and free street entertainment. Ball drop and fireworks at Midnight.
It’s time to make your plans to attend The Market Common NEW YEAR’S EVE street party…A SOUTHERN TIMES SQUARE! There will be streaming Times Square in NYC live beginning at 9pm on a jumbo screen. There will also a mirror ball drop at midnight along with fireworks!
There will be human statues, mimes, a glass blower, face painters, glitter tattoo’s, and dancing in the streets!
This is a family friendly event with inflatables and games so bring the kids!
In addition to our parking lots, parking garages and street parking the lots at Crabtree Gym will be available for parking.
Admission is free to the public. For safety reasons bags, large purses and backpacks are prohibited. Strollers are permitted and please put necessary items in a clear plastic storage bag.
Fireworks on the Marshwalk, Murrells Inlet
Each of the eight restaurants on the Marshwalk will have holiday drink and dinner specials throughout the evening. Live music will be played on all stages, and the evening will culminate with a midnight fireworks extravaganza that will light up the Inlet sky with endless colors

Barefoot Landing at 6:00 PM
2nd Avenue Pier at 10 PM
