Art in the Park

The holidays are coming and what better and more appreciated gift to give than original art work? Art in the Park is the perfect opportunity to find a special gift for that hard-to-buy-for aunt or uncle. The show and sale is the Grand Strand’s premier outdoor art event, hosted by the oldest art guild in the area, Waccamaw Arts & Crafts Guild. Since 1972, Art in the Park has hosted artists from all over the country working in a variety of mediums. Artists are required to submit original works or reproductions of their original works.

The Next Market Common Military History Tour

Thursday, November 8, 2 – 4 pm

Anyone interested in learning about The Market Common military history, should visit The Trembley Group Real Estate Blog and read The Market Common’s Proud Military Historya and then sign up for a military history tour that will be offered on Thursday, November 8th, from 2 – 4 PM. Tour-takers will board a trolley for a one-hour narrated tour around the Market Common District. They’ll learn about the history of the former Myrtle Beach Air Force Base and the Myrtle Beach Army Air Field which also housed a German POW camp during WWII. The tour includes stops at Warbird Park, the General Robert H. Reed Recreation Center that is the home to a small military museum, and at the Myrtle Beach International Airport’s Norton General Aviation Terminal which features displays from the Base Operations building that once stood on that site. A one-hour catered reception at Tupelo Honey. Tickets for the trolley tour and reception are $30.

Military Historians will meet at 2 PM in front of the Grand 14 Cinema, at Deville and Reed Streets. There they’ll board the trolley and depart for the one-hour tour that includes three stops. The final stop will be at Tupelo Honey for a one-hour catered reception and historical presentation.

The Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at The Market Common

Saturday, November 17, 6 – 8 pm

The first tree at New York City’s Rockefeller Center dates to 1931. It was a small unadorned tree placed by construction workers at the center of the construction site. Two years later, another tree was placed there, this time with lights. These days, the giant Rockefeller Center tree is laden with over 25,000 Christmas lights.

For many in South Carolina, the Rockefeller Center tree doesn’t (excuse the expression) hold a candle to The Market Common Christmas tree. In what is fast becoming a Myrtle Beach and Grand Strand annual holiday tradition, The Trembley Group Real Estate Professionals and their families are looking forward to the annual Christmas Tree Lighting at The Market Common.

This year’s lighting will be held Saturday, November 17th, from 6 PM until 8 PM and is guaranteed to be great family fun. There will be Complimentary Carriage Rides from 6 PM – 9 PM, a trackless train for the children on Deville Street as well as a balloon artist, carnival games, and inflatables on Reed Street. The events stage in front of the Grand 14 will offer an array of holiday music by Vocal Edition. And no one wants to miss Santa! After using his magic to light the tree, he’ll be in his sleigh in front of the Grand 14 where he’ll visit with children and be available for pictures. Parents are encouraged to bring their chairs and enjoy the music while their kids play and visit with Santa! It’s sure to be great fun for all!

The Market Common Holiday Bazaar

Every Saturday in November & December,  12 – 4 pm

Visitors to The Market Common can enjoy a festive holiday market with seasonal craft vendors, live greens, and fresh food on Howard Avenue! The Holiday Bazaar will be held from 12 to 4 pm every Saturday in November through December 15th.
