Jeremy Jenks: Each week my team loves to surprise me with a question out of the box and I don’t know what’s coming, but it’s just like I’m sitting on your couch, in your living room and I’m answering a question from one of my buyers or sellers. Let’s see what we have this week. Oh boy, this is a biggie. “Should I use an Agent to find a home?” Of course, you should. Using a real estate agent … buying a home for the average American family is one of the largest investments that they’re gonna make and using a real estate agent is gonna help you make the best decision. Where … choosing a better location, not missing things … that can easily cost you not only in repairs, in time, but in appreciation over the life of the home. That adds up to tens of thousands of dollars when you live in a home for years.

Using an agent can help you make the best decision and it doesn’t cost you anything because the seller pays for the buyer’s agent. It’s like having your own personal shopper. Imagine if you had a personal shopper to go shopping with you, of course, it’s gonna improve what’s your outcome is. Having a buyer’s agent with you is gonna help you coordinate everything as you move towards closing. The average real estate closing takes 20 hours to coordinate. You’ve gotta find … you’d have to find your own inspectors, you’d have to find your own appraisers, your attorney, pay your attorney to come up with a contract and everything if you’re on your own, okay. If you’re working with an agent, they can walk you through that entire process, it’s a lot of work.

Imagine … What if you’re brand new to an area and you don’t know where to go? You need a real estate agent to help advise you on the pros and cons of different areas across Myrtle Beach. There’s a lot of different things going on. Lastly, did I mention it’s free? The seller is gonna pay the buyers commissions, you’re not really saving yourself anything by skipping out and using an agent. You’re just potentially costing yourself into major pitfalls or costing yourself a lot of money if something pops up. Speaking of the decision-making process, we do have a blog that we’re going through the different steps to making the best decisions in real estate. Check that out if you’re in the shopping and information stages.
