Scott Trembley: Good afternoon, this is Scott Trembley, the president and CEO of the Trembley Group Real Estate here in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. I hope all of you out there are doing fantastic. Today, I just want to bring you another leadership sales tip that, one, has made an impact on me and my life and I think many of – many, many – really successful leaders out there and CEOs and what have you. But the tip is is I learned at an early age to, my mother always told me to fail more often.

Let me tell you something, whenever she ran that by me, really at that time because I was really young, I really didn’t know exactly what she meant. But she would put it on our cabinets at home and just say, “Son, fail more often.” As time went on, it started making more sense because you truly miss 100% of the shots you do not take. Most folks, they kind of get going and before success happens, they quit too early.

For example, on the sales floor, it takes a minimum of about seven contacts or attempts – seven attempted contacts – to make connection or set up an appointment or possibly get that agreement. Most agents will not even make, they may make one – then the next tier of agents will make three – but the top agents will make seven or more. Heck, one of our Client Care Specialists, he made 37 attempts to reach a client and finally got him on the 37th attempt. That was a guy that deciding that failing was not an option. He was going to continue to grind it out and fail more often.

But the “failing more often”, it’s even more powerful than … It gives you a mindset that in order for you to accomplish something, you have to do – you have to take action. And it also develops a mindset, in taking action, you know that there’s not always going to be successes but those failures help you grow tremendously. Let me just share something, you find yourself a great leader, anywhere in the country, anywhere in the industry, anywhere in the world and I guarantee it, you’ll find someone that has failed quite a bit in their life to get where they want to go.

Most of the time, even more than their successes. But what it allows you to do is those successes just become amazing once you’ve gone through it and you’ve grinded and you’ve learned through all those failures. So it’s an interesting tip. I challenge you to embrace failing more often. Here’s a bigger even challenge, celebrate the failures. Those in our organization will say, “Scott, this is what happened and it wasn’t so good.” The first thing I’d say is, “Great.” They look at me, then they realize, “You know what, we’re getting ready to learn something here and grow.”

So failures are challenges with growth opportunities on the other side. So I leave with that thought. It’s a leadership thought. I want all of you out there to be amazing leaders in your industry, in your business and if you ever just want to just chat about the business, chat about leadership or anything, feel free to give me a call. You can reach me at 843-455-6636 or scott@thetrembleygroup.com. Hey, just remember, go for it today. Take action. Fail more often and big things will be ahead of you. Have an amazing day. Take care.
