Here are my reasons why adding a pool may increase your home’s value.

A lot of clients have been asking me recently, “Does adding a pool increase my home’s value?”

Today is a balmy 90-degree day in Myrtle Beach, so I figured it would be the perfect time to answer this question.

The conventional wisdom is that pools do not really add value to your home. However, over the last couple of years, pools have become extremely popular.

“People move to Myrtle Beach to enjoy the excellent weather, so outdoor spaces are worth more here than they are elsewhere.”

For example, I just listed a house that had a pool recently installed and the offers came flooding in. What we believe is happening is that this is a result of low inventory. If you are a buyer looking for a home with a nice pool, you don’t have a ton of options. That makes homes that do have a pool sell for a premium.

Now, if you spend $100,000 on a nice pool and outdoor kitchen, should you expect to get $100,000 back in equity? Probably not, but it will undeniably add value to your home. People move to Myrtle Beach to enjoy the excellent weather, so outdoor spaces are worth more here than they are elsewhere.
