I have a bit of a different topic today: three of my craziest real estate stories! Most people would probably be shocked by what real estate agents deal with on a daily basis. Any job that deals with the general public is probably similar. I get the added benefit of going into people’s houses, which allows them to be a little more comfortable in their own homes. It can get a little strange, however, so here are three of the weirdest stories to date:

Most Realtors have dealt with this first one. Every single time I walk up to a home to show it now, I ring the doorbell. Usually, the sellers have left, but sometimes they didn’t get the showing request and there they are walking around in a bathrobe… or less. Then my clients and I are suddenly caught in an awkward situation standing in their kitchen. Yes, this has literally happened.

This second story is pretty amusing. I’m a licensed commercial contractor, many of you know that. However, it doesn’t take someone with much building experience to know that it’s not a great thing when you’re looking into a crawlspace and a car jack is being used to hold up the corner of the actual house. So that was fantastic. The floors were level though, so that was something!

Most people would probably be shocked by what real estate agents deal with on a daily basis.

My last story is for people wondering why you have attorneys at the closing in some states. Well, sometimes we see some fascinating things that people try to do with loan documents, deals, and so on. One of the most amusing ones was a guy who owned a ketchup empire and he came in with a briefcase literally filled with cash. You just cannot do that these days. The attorneys didn’t even know what to do with it.
