Junction of Highways 544 and 707, by the swing bridge, Myrtle Beach, SC

Every year, thousands flock to Socastee Swing Bridge for the annual Socastee Heritage Festival. For nearly a decade, attendees have come out to the bridge on the last Saturday of April where they enjoy cotton candy and gorgeous views of the Intracoastal Waterway.

The event featured 180 vendors, in addition to kids activities like bounce houses and pony rides, as well as entertainment performed on three different stages. Nine volunteers groups put on the event.

The Sarvis House, a historic landmark maintained by the Socastee Heritage Foundation, displays historical photos and other old-time items year-round from registries and newspaper clippings to photos. Most of the money from the event is used to maintain the house, which was built in the 1800s. The remainder is dispersed in grants that benefit the local community.

The last Saturday in April the road is closed to automobile traffic and most attendees are lucky enough to see the swing bridge in operation as yachts sail up and down the Intracoastal Waterway.
