Conway Riverfest

July 1, 2017, 11:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m.

Riverfest in downtown Conway is a family-fun festival offering an exciting play area just for kids, live music, food, arts and crafts, and more.

Live entertainment will be held in Riverfront Park including performances from local entertainers, McGuire Band, Snake Malone & The Black Cat Bone, and Marc Broussard. Admission to the entertainment area is $5/person and children 12 and under are free.

Hang out along Marina Drive for the opening ceremony followed by a golf cart parade at 11:30 a.m., artisan market, business expo, and a Jello Jump with a kid’s area. Fireworks start at 9:30 p.m.

The Kid Zone will have inflatables, cold treats, mini train rides, games, face painting, bull rides, a bungee jump, ponies, petting zoo and a miniature racetrack.

A bass tournament will be held along the Waccamaw River at Bucksport Marina from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. First place will bring home $1,400.00

Riverfest is Conway’s largest running festival and celebrates Independence Day with festivities for the entire family. Riverfest 2016 features an abundance of local food and retail vendors, outstanding live entertainment, and numerous activities that will provide amusement for all ages. Little Texas will take the main stage at 8 p.m.!

10 a.m. 51st Annual Pawleys Island 4th of July Parade, Pawleys Island, 321 Myrtle Avenue, Pawleys Island, SC 29585

1 p.m. (time is approximate) Salute from the Shore on the 4th!, On the 4th of July come to the beach and watch the Shaw AFB F-16s from 20th Fighter Wing fly from Cherry Grove south along the 60 miles of the Grand Strand! See vintage WW2 aircraft! Help support “Salute from the Shore” by taking a huge flag, taking a video and pictures of the salute and sharing them at www.SaluteFromTheShore.org. 4 p.m. Annual Boat Parade, Murrells Inlet Marshwalk, 4025 US 17, Business, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576

Whether you’re a boat owner or just looking to spectate, the Murrells Inlet Fourth of July Boat Parade is not to be missed! This patriotic display of marine vessels will take place from 4-6pm on Tuesday, July 4th. The parade starts off at Garden City Point before meandering down through the MarshWalk before ending at the Hot Fish Club. Watch as boats compete for best decorations, and cheer on the favorites from the shoreline. For a unique Fourth of July experience, be sure to catch the Murrells Inlet Boat Parade!

Myrtle Beach July 4th Fireworks

Founding father John Adams saw fireworks as an important part of the celebration of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The first Independence Day fireworks were first seen on July 4, 1777 and have been a necessary part of any Fourth of July celebration for the past 241 years.

NASCAR in Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach NASCAR Experience

Myrtle Beach has a lot to offer the NASCAR fan. Myrtle Beach Speedway 455 Hospitality Lane Myrtle Beach, SC 29579 (Phone (843) 236-0500) is a 0.538-mile track and is host to the annual Myrtle Beach 400 Weekend that is held in the fall. Regularly scheduled NASCAR races at the speedway include Late Model Stock Cars, Super Truck, Charger and South East Late Models. There are even school bus races!

For those who’ve dreamed of joining the ranks of professional NASCAR drivers, there’s the NASCAR Racing Experience at the speedway. Participants ride along as a passenger with a professional driver or can experience the thrill of NASCAR firsthand and take the car around the track themselves!

Armed Forces Sun Fun 101 Race

On July 8 from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m., Myrtle Beach Speedway hosts the annual NASCAR Whelen Series “Armed Forces Sun Fun 101” Race. There’s fun locals and Myrtle Beach Vacationers. Race teams put on a show competing for a chance in Victory Lane. The July 8th races will host NASCAR Whelen Series Late Models, Chargers, Mini Stocks, Super Trucks & Palmetto Vintage Series! Winner of the NASCAR Whelen Late Model Race will receive an automatic position in the speedway’s MyrtleBeach400 (November 2017). Grandstands Open at 5PM, special guests and Armed Forces Day celebrations will occur before the start of the feature race events! Darlington Raceway

Darlington, SC is just a couple miles northwest of the I-20 and I-95 intersection near Florence, SC and only an hour and a half from the Myrtle Beach area. Darlington Raceway was originally constructed in 1950 to showcase stock car racing on a raceway rivaled the Indianapolis Speedway. The race track has seen the likes of Kyle Busch, Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt take a victory lap.

The Darlington Raceway Stock Car Museum and Pit Shop is a must-see to any car racing fan. It chronicles the Darlington Raceway as well as the history of stock car racing itself. The winning car of the first Mountain Dew Southern 500 sits in the museum, a 1950 Plymouth that Johnny Mantz drove. The convertible with the most wins and Richard Petty’s 1967 Plymouth also have a prominent spot in the museum.

Naturalist Guided Kayak Tours

Wednesday, July 19, 8:30am – 1:00pm 

For vacationers or locals interested in nature and a little exercise, the North Inlet-Winyah Bay Reserve Estuarine Research Center offers a naturalist-guided tour through the creeks of North Inlet. The program includes instruction in basic kayaking, a natural history overview of the area, and basic North Inlet ecosystem education. Participants are encouraged to wear sturdy shoes, bring a snack and drinking water, and (if interested) binoculars and a camera. The cost is $50 per person and each tour is limited to six participants. The next tour is Wednesday, July 19 then periodically throughout the summer.
