July! Summer’s here! All summer long there is soft sand, spectacular views and, of course, fireworks in Myrtle Beach and up and down the Grand Strand. And for the Fourth of July, there will be parades. And since this is Myrtle Beach, there will be boat parades. And since the Grand Strand has such a rich military history, there will be parades of modern and vintage aircraft.  And nothing says summer quite like the sky lit up with fireworks! No one outgrows it, no matter what age. Don’t miss the Myrtle Beach fireworks on the Fourth of July! As the summer heats up, there will be plenty of opportunities to take in the sky-high pyrotechnics all summer long.

Celebrate Independence Day

Every July 4th, Americans from around the country gather with family and friends to celebrate one of the nation’s oldest federal holidays. The folks living in Myrtle Beach and along the Grand Strand are no different. Now in the 243rd year of freedom from British rule, the 4th of July has come to be synonymous with barbecuing, visiting the beach, picnicking, and of course, admiring the beautiful colors of high-flying fireworks. There’s no better place to celebrate the Fourth than Myrtle Beach.

With the summer heating up, Independence Day is a day of family celebrations with picnics and barbecues in one of Myrtle Beach and the Grand Strand’s parks and gardens. Of course, there is an emphasis on the American tradition of political freedom. Activities associated with the day include watermelon and hotdog eating competitions and sporting events, such as softball games, three-legged races, tug-of-war games, and, since this is the Grand Strand, lots of swimming and water-related activities.

Many people display the American flag outside their homes or buildings. Independence Day is a patriotic holiday for celebrating all the positive aspects of the United States. Many politicians appear at public events to show their support for the history, heritage, and people of their country. Above all, people in the United States express and give thanks for the freedom and liberties fought by the first generation of many of today’s Americans. The Statue of Liberty is a national monument that is associated with Independence Day.

About Independence Day

While the Fourth is a day of picnics and a day at the beach with a heaping dose of patriotism, the Real Estate Professionals at Keller Williams The Trembley Group like to remember what the day is really about. In 1775, people in New England began fighting the British for their independence. On July 2, 1776, Congress secretly voted for independence from Great Britain. Two days later, on July 4, 1776, the final wording of the Declaration of Independence was approved, and the document was published. The first public reading of the Declaration of Independence was on July 8, 1776. Delegates began to sign the Declaration of Independence on August 2, 1776.

The first description of how Independence Day would be celebrated was outlined in a letter from John Adams to his wife Abigail on July 3, 1776. He described “pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations” throughout the United States. However, the term “Independence Day” was not used until 1791. Interestingly, Thomas Jefferson and John Adams, both signers of the Declaration of Independence and presidents of the United States, died on July 4, 1826 – exactly 50 years after the adoption of the declaration.

The Independence Day 8K at The Market Common

Celebrate the nation’s birthday by racing in the 2019 Independence Day 8K at the Market Common in Myrtle Beach. Walkers are welcome and even encouraged! This is a family event, and runners and walkers with strollers are also welcome. There is plenty of free parking available on the streets in Market Common, in multiple parking lots, and two parking garages in the development.

Participant registration is from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Wednesday, July 3 at The Black Dog Running Center located a 1600 Farrow Parkway Unit B3, in The Market Common of Myrtle Beach (843) 839-1174 or at the Start/Finish Line at Valor Park from 6:00 AM until 7:20 AM on Race Day, July 4. The race will start promptly at 7:30 AM. T-shirts will not be available to those registering on race day.

Brooks Running and Black Dog Running will award a free pair of running shoes to the male and female overall winners of the race! Black Dog Running will award gift cards to the overall masters male and female and overall 2nd and 3rd place male and female.

At the end of the race, runners and race-fans have the time to recover and make their to the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk or Myrtle Beach State Park, both just a couple miles away.  What better way to spend the fourth of July than at the beach, honoring our troops. Salute from the Shore was organized as way to do just that – salute our armed forces. The Salute from the Shore organizers encourage everyone to participate and to share their experience.

Anywhere along the Grand Strand beginning at Cherry Grove

Salute from the Shore is an unforgettable flyover of F-16s from the 169th Fighter Wing at McEntire Joint National Guard Base in South Carolina. Make your way to the beach on July 4 at 1 p.m. and witness an unforgettable flyover of F-16s from the 169th Fighter Wing at McEntire Joint National Guard Base in South Carolina and classic Air Force planes from yesteryear. The flyover begins at 1:00 PM at Cherry Grove and makes its way down to Bluffton, SC around 1:25 PM.

Fourth of July celebrants can help support Salute From the Shore by heading to the Grand Strand anywhere along the South Carolina shore at 1:00 PM on the 4th of July. “Think BIG!” Get a huge flag or be creative. See what celebrants did in the past at http://salutefromtheshore.org/share-your-salute.   But most importantly, get to the beach wearing or carrying America’s red, white, and blue!

The Annual Murrells Inlet Boat Parade

The Murrells Inlet party starts at noon with the Annual Murrells Inlet Boat Parade. The parade is one of South Carolina’s iconic Independence Day celebrations and will be held on the Fourth of July at noon. The parade will begin in Garden City at the point and float along Murrells Inlet Marsh Walk before finishing at Morse Park Landing.

Every year, thousands of spectators will line the inlet to celebrate the country and the creativity of the decorated boats. The boats can be observed from anywhere along the Marshwalk. Decorated boats sail down the parade route, with festival goers watching from equally decorated docks of the picturesque Murrells Inlet Marshwalk with it equally picturesque restaurants. The parade begins at high noon and the day concludes with a fireworks display in the inlet.

Pawleys Island 53rd Annual 4th of July Parade

The Fourth of July Parade on Pawleys Island, South Carolina is a fun community event. Visitors and locals alike parade down the Island in anything that can become a makeshift float. Decorate a boat, car, or flatbed truck – anything that can be turned into a patriotic display for 4th of July! All that’s needed is a little red, white, and blue ~ true patriotic colors! The Pawleys Island Parade is a fun, family tradition on the 4th. To enter a float in the parade, stop by the Town Hall, 323 Myrtle Avenue, Pawleys Island and fill out an application. The cost to enter is $15 in advance, $20 the day of the parade. Applications will be available Mondays – Fridays, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM until and including the day of the parade.

Murrells Inlet Fireworks

Find a comfortable spot on the Murrells Inlet waterfront for the area’s largest fireworks display. The fireworks show starts at 10 PM and is guaranteed to light up the night sky over Murrells Inlet. The fireworks will be launched from near the end of Veterans Pier and are easily seen from anywhere along the Marsh Walk. Anyone living on the south end of the Grand Strand in the Litchfield Beach and Pawleys Island area, you will love seeing the Fourth of July fireworks in Murrells Inlet!

Broadway at the Beach

Broadway at the Beach will host its annual special Fourth of July fireworks display at 10 PM over Lake Broadway. It’s a regular Independence Day event for some of the Keller Williams The Trembley Group Real Estate Professionals. The Professionals say there are many good places to see the display, but the best locations are from the two bridges crossing the lake.

Barefoot Landing

A little further north on the southern end of North Myrtle Beach, Barefoot Landing will light up the sky with a gorgeous fireworks exhibit over the lake to celebrate the 4th of July! Barefoot Landing is a shopping and entertainment complex home to many bars, restaurants, and shops. The complex offers many family-friendly events throughout the summer.

The Cherry Grove Pier

On the northern end of North Myrtle Beach in the community of Cherry Grove and its Fourth of July celebration will include a fireworks display at the Cherry Grove Pier. Experience says the best way to view this free fireworks show is from the porch of a beach house or the balcony of a condominium. For those yet to purchase a beach house or condominium, bring a beach chair and enjoy an amazing fireworks display sitting on the sand. The fireworks show begins around 9:30 PM on Thursday, July 4 and is free to the public.

Celebrate the summer every Tuesday and Friday at Broadway at the Beach throughout the summer at 10:00 PM.

Every  Monday at 10:00 PM, Barefoot Landing hosts summer fireworks as part of its summer entertainment series.

Revelers can experience the magic of fireworks right on the beach! The Oceanfront Merchants Association host special fireworks nights every Wednesday night t at 10:00 PM at the Second Avenue Pier, weather permitting.
