About 30 years ago, four renowned golf course architects got together and designed a four-course resort in North Myrtle Beach. Unusual for Myrtle Beach, the architects created a community that wasn’t focused on the beach. Instead, it was based on gently rolling hills and the beautiful Intracoastal Waterway. The four towers of luxury condominiums known as the Yacht Club Villas combine with homes and townhomes to create the heart of Barefoot Resort of Myrtle Beach. It’s the ideal place for golfers as well as serious boaters and water-lovers to call home.

Located west of US 17, Barefoot Resort is a retreat from the noise of traffic and bright lights for its visitors and residents. Riding through the neighborhoods, residents and you will find a serene blending of every amenity, set in pristine low-country wetlands and lakes that one could only dream of. Yet it’s only a short golf cart ride away from the white sands of Windy Hill Beach.

The resort includes one of the top-rated driving ranges on the Grand Strand. The Barefoot Resort and Golf Driving Range is a lighted facility comprising more than 30 acres. The practice facility is a nice complement to the resort courses and was named a 2012 GRAA top 50 public facility.

Putter’s Pub

After finishing a bucket of balls, it’s a short walk over to Putters Pub, (located on-site), for a delicious brick oven pizza and maybe a beer or two. The Pub consists of two large rooms, with one offering a bar, several tables, video games, pool tables, a fireplace, and 15 flat panel TV’s always tunes to all the great g

Putters Pub is a little off the beaten path of all the joints along US 17 but is worth the little bit of effort to find it.

After spending the day golfing at one of the Barefoot Resort golf courses, Golfers stop by Putters Pub to relax and enjoy a beer or two. Golfers particularly will like the menu, as it offers an array of appetizers, soups, salads, burgers, sandwiches, wraps, paninis, quesadillas, pizzas, strombolis, and more. Putter’s Pub also offers special entrees after 4 p.m. including Spaghetti with Marinara, Shrimp Scampi, Chicken Parmigiana, Fresh Atlantic Salmon, and Steak.

The bar menu features domestic and import bottles, wine, cocktails, and specialty shots! The menu consists of wood-fired, brick oven pizzas, seafood baskets, burgers and more.

Putter’sPub offers a variety of nightly specials including Monday Pizza Nite. Tuesday is Taco Trivia Nite, Wednesday is Burger Nite, and Thursday is wing nite. The weekend includes nightly drink and dinner specials. Check out the Putter’s Pub Calendar for details.

Putter’s Pub is a great find! The wings are excellent but the thing that keeps people coming back is what many call the best pizza outside New York City. It’s what keeps Bret French, a Realtor and a Keller Williams The Trembley Group Real Estate Professional coming back. That and the fact that Brandon French, Bret’s twin Brother is one of the managers. Bret always says, “Be sure to mention the service is outstanding.”

Before ordering the first perfectly baked slice, oozing cheese, consider what makes the Putter’s Pub pizza so special. Sure, there’s the seemingly endless variety of toppings and there even a choice of sauces. But what really sets a Putter’s Pub pizza apart is the crust.

The Putter’s Pub pizza dough is hand tossed and then baked in a scorching hot brick oven. Hand-tossed pizzas have a crust formed by stretching and tossing dough into the air by hand, whereas pan pizzas have a crust made by pressing dough into the pan in which they’re cooked. Both techniques result in pizzas with quite different characteristics.

The Pizza chefs at Putters Pub throw the dough around and work it with firm hands to reduce the volume that yeast helps it attain. Tossing it a few times produces a thin and sturdy surface to layer toppings. Once baked, this crispy and subtly flavored base helps diners savor the cheese, meats, and sauce to the fullest. “Oh, did someone say meat,” Bret Jokes. “Putter’s Pub has a reputation for the best spicy sausage on the Grand Strand. It’s not too spicy. It’s just spicy enough.”

Hand tossing creates a thin-crust pizza that’s baked in a brick oven. Hand-tossed pizzas tend to have a thin or medium crust because the tossing action bursts air bubbles in the dough, reducing its rise in the oven. Putter’s Pub pizzas have a distinct edge to the crust without toppings.

Hand-tossed refers to preparation technique and has little to do with the recipe for the pizza dough. Authentic pizza recipes use a lean dough made with just flour, yeast, salt and water. Some recipes include a little sugar and oil for better browning. Bret French says he really doesn’t care much about the pizza dough recipe particulars. “All I really care about is how the pizza tastes and the Putter’s Pub pizza is the best there is in Myrtle Beach. My kids love it, too. ”

To enjoy the best-tasting pizza crusts and toppings, head to Putters Pub. The dough is made daily, Putter’s Pub is a treat to the taste buds with their delicious gourmet pizzas, entrees, and sandwiches.
